2018 Featured Quilter

This year’s Featured Quilter, Joan Hodgebloom, began her stitching career at the age of eight.  Taking a class at a youth center in Massachusetts, she learned to make pajamas with tailor’s tacks.  As the years went by she progressed to teaching sewing classes in Spokane, WA. When Joan and her husband moved to Kalispell she taught a Folded Star Purse class at Crafty Creations.  That class resulted in her working at that store and eventually purchasing it in 1985.  She renamed the store, the Quilt Gallery.

Over the years, she has designed and created numerous quilts,  wall hangings, and other items, taught many, many classes, including an annual Mystery Quilt class, and provided a store filled with wonderful array of fabrics and notions to inspire and encourage a wide range of quilters.

Joan retired from the store in 2017 but is by no means retired from quilting.  Joan will continue to be an inspiration to quilters across the country.  Her exhibit of quilts at the 2018 show will demonstrate the variety of flavor and style found in her quilts as well as her expertise in the art of quilting.

We are pleased to honor her with the title of

Featured Quilter for 2018.
